From the President

July 1, 2018

Dear Friend,

Ten years ago, with just two employees and a couple of desks borrowed from Innosight Consulting, the Christensen Institute opened its doors. Founded on the theories of Harvard Business School professor Clayton Christensen, the Institute embarked on an ambitious mission: providing a unique lens for addressing society’s most pressing issues. By distilling and promoting the transformational power of Disruptive Innovation, the Institute sought to redefine the way policymakers and industry leaders addressed problems in education and healthcare.

No longer crowded into a tiny office in Mountain View, CA, the Institute now comprises four practices, with offices in the Boston area and Silicon Valley. Last year alone, the Institute:

  • Published 12 research papers and produced over 150 blogs and articles

  • Garnered mentions in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, CNN, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, among others

  • Conducted or presented research in 9 countries outside of the United States

  • Co-hosted the 2018 Blended & Personalized Learning Conference

  • Delivered more than 50 speeches or panel presentations

  • Secured two book contracts (K-12 Education, Global Prosperity)

Looking back at our journey over the last ten years, I’m proud of the work we’ve done to effect positive social change through our research. The wheels are in motion to celebrate this important milestone with a 10th Anniversary Celebration at Boston’s State Room on October 10, 2018. Attendees will include leaders in healthcare, global development, K-12 education, higher education, business, and government.
